Practical, non-medical guidance about UV-C, mini-split cleaning and HVAC hygiene.

01What does an HVAC UV light do?
A properly installed UV-C lamp continuously irradiates selected surfaces inside compatible HVAC equipment. It can help control microbial growth where the light reaches, especially around the coil area.
02Where is the UV light installed?
Placement depends on the equipment. A coil-focused unit is typically mounted inside or adjacent to the air handler so its light reaches the evaporator coil and nearby drain-pan area.
03Can UV light replace an air filter?
No. Filtration captures airborne particles; UV-C treats illuminated surfaces or air depending on system design. They perform different jobs.
04Does UV light clean an already dirty coil?
No. Existing heavy buildup should be cleaned first. UV-C can then support ongoing surface hygiene.
05How often should the UV lamp be replaced?
Output declines over time even if a lamp still glows. Follow the manufacturer’s interval, often one to two years, and inspect the system periodically.
06Can every HVAC system use a UV light?
No. We check space, access, wiring, materials and manufacturer guidance before recommending an installation.
07How long does installation take?
Timing depends on equipment and access. We confirm a service-duration estimate after inspection.
08Is UV-C light safe inside an HVAC system?
It must be enclosed, installed with the system powered down and never viewed directly while operating. Access panels and safety labeling matter.
09Can UV light damage HVAC materials?
Prolonged UV exposure may affect some plastics, wiring insulation or filter media. Correct placement and shielding help protect vulnerable materials.
10What happens during a mini-split cleaning?
We protect the room, open accessible components, inspect the unit, clean approved coil and blower areas, address the drain pan and line, then document the result.
11How often should a mini-split be cleaned?
The right interval depends on use, pets, filters, humidity and visible condition. An inspection is more useful than a universal schedule.
12Do you provide estimates from photographs?
Photos can help us understand the system and prepare, but final scope may require an on-site inspection.
13Which locations do you serve?
Our configured service area includes Manatee and Hillsborough counties and the communities listed on our Service Areas page.
14Do you offer maintenance plans?
Yes. Plan inclusions and pricing are being finalized; request plan pricing for current options.
Tell us the system type, what you have noticed and where the property is. We will help you work out the most appropriate next step, including when the answer is “nothing yet”.
